1930

Patent Attorney Dr. Fritz Walter in Berlin, establishes our law firm. The main focus is on plant and mechanical engineering.

1949

The firm relocates to Augsburg in the Martini-Palais in the Maximilian street. The firm follows the Patent Office that relocates from Berlin to Munich.

1956

Patent attorney Hans-Dieter Ernicke commences work at the firm, building a close relationship of mutual trust with Dr. Walter. Soon he becomes Dr. Walter’s successor.

1970s

The law firm relocates to Schwibbogenplatz. At this time the building is state-of-the-art, partly due to network technology. The firm becomes active in the fields of automation technology and robotics. New clients are acquired from the textile industry and vehicle construction sector.

1981

The second-generation family business starts with the arrival of patent attorney Klaus Ernicke. He expands the firm’s know-how to include control and process engineering.

2000s

The firm becomes more global and builds networks in China and USA. Building automation and elevator technology expand the firm’s portfolio.

2009

The third generation begins: Moritz Ernicke, with his masters in engineering and then patent attorney as of 2012, establishes new international mandates in the automotive industry and serves the fields of Computer Vision, Human Machine Interface and Power-Train.

From 2010

The firm opens up to the fields of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. Software patents become more important.

2015

Attorney-at-law Maximilian Ernicke joins the firm. He brings experience in complex proceedings in patent and trademark infringements from his previous work in major international law firms.

2016

Johannes Ernicke starts work at the firm. As an engineer and MBA graduate with project experience from the automotive industry, he brings additional expertise in the fields of autonomous driving and sensor technology.

2017

Attorney-at-law Joseph Fernando joins the team. The law firm moves to larger and more accessible premises in the Glaspalast in Augsburg. They introduce a new corporate identity.

2018

Ljubomir Barbic joins the firm. He expands the team’s technical competence with his years of experience in 3D printing and additive manufacturing processes.

2019

The firm launches a portal service for clients that simplifies portfolio management and provides even more secure communication.

2020

Dr. Katherina Ernicke complements the firm’s team and expands its range of services in the areas of employee inventions and infringements of industrial property rights.
